Please help me find a new shifter boot
Does anyone know where I can get a NP 435 close ratio M28 shifter boot for a big block 68 truck ? Its like how many did they make ? a few hundred? Nobody has the correct boot. I mean nobody. Mine is rectangular in pattern with 6 bolts and looks nothing like the roundish 4 speed boot found on everything else. I have repainted the interior, new upholstery, new carpet, new chrome AC ducts etc buit it all looks like crap because I cant find a new shifter boot aaaahhhh

I know it's not correct, but I would just get a later round small block boot and retainer. I have scored all of the big block crossmembers and linkage to put an SM 465 in my truck and have found same problem. Noone makes repro big block boots. I hope to be able to run a SB 2 wheel drive 4 speed trans hump and then use the 4x4 boot and retainer. The retainer will have to be bent since the boot is way forward over a 4x4 truck, but should be fine and at least period correct. Same with yours, not exactly right but if it's not going to be judged in a concourse it's close enough, right?
