Does anybody about these air cleaners?
I saw this in the new 2002 Edelbrock catalog and I was wondering if they are any good.
They are reusable, and seem pretty efficient, but I didn't want to buy one without knowing more. Thanks

Only good to make a torch outa your engine.
The foam traps the little bit of fuel spray coming out of your carb, then, the slightest little back fire will ignite it. It is not a flame arestor like the paper ones. It does not flow as good as you think it does either. If you really want one, come by here...you can have mine. not even worth the shipping. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. I agree with longhornmail I had one and every time you have a back fire throught the carb it toasts your element.

From my experiance, I don't really care for them. If they are old or had a few carb backfires, the foam will go in your carburetor. If you like the low profile Weiand makes a filter one. I use a 5 inch K&N with an extreme filter top.

I agree with the others .If you carry good fire insurance and need to replace the engine wiring and hood ,get one if not look for something else .

Hmm, I think perhaps I shall get the K&N- I have heard they flow the best- and no, I don't need new wiring or anything, eventually maybe but not now. Thanks everybody!

OK, not done yet....What K&N will work with a '69 350? I typed it into the little search thing, and it did not show a 350, just 307, 400, etc. Will the X-stream fit? They look awesome and I don't think they burn up.

What do you all think of this one?
You see, I really would like to have an Edelbrock brand filter because I am slowly going to do my engine over and am using Edelbrock stuff- this fits on the Performer series carb and it is a K&N element. Well , my .02....all that polished stuff dont make it go any faster! I have a Moroso red anodized breather,& valve covers. Size is standard .....14" dia,& you can go 3 tall ,or 4 ,& can also get chrome on the tops & bases(less cash). I do have the edelbrock rpm heads,intake,& carb......good stuff Meynard........69

the ones you have in the picture are spendy, but they are aluminum instead of tin and will last forever
they wont rust or bend and they look very nice my valve covers match them and they are very high quality peices

I like my air filter lid, I wouldn't mind having the valve covers to match it, but, lack of $$$ and just the fact that I LOVE my current valve covers!!

You'd think edelbrock would discontinue the line, all I've heard about them is bad, this was after I bought mine though of course! Has anyone tried to contact them? Should be a recall if you ask me.

Man, I wish I had a pic of the P.O.S.!! You guys would get a kick out of it. I got this air cleaner on a core 327 I bought one time that turned out to be a 283. The guy evidently wanted an open sided breather, so he took a torch and cut the original 2bbl air cleaner all the way around, leaving just enough room for the element to seal!!!! He didn't even bother painting it, just left all the slag and rust hanging there, I almost died laughing!!
