Serpentine Q
Hey guys, I just got a serpentine system from a 1991 siverado. My question is, what do I do about the spot where the smog pump was. Can I run it W/O it just like it is, or do I need a delete pulley for that spot?

Re: Serpentine Q
I have a 92 Camaro serpentine setup on my 350. I had to get a smog pump delete pully to make everything work, they also have a A/C delete pully. The GM part number for the smog elimination pully is (10186167) and was about $48.00 from GM parts direct on the internet. I am almost sure that your truck serpentine setup is a little different than my Camaro one, so im not sure if that part number will work for your application. But im sure they make one. Give them a ring. Hope this helps.

Re: Serpentine Q
Take a piece of rope, cloth tape, whatever, route it the path of the belt, see if it works. Useful for determining belt length too. -Chris

Re: Serpentine Q
you should be able to get a belt for the donor truck, I believe that year came with or without the smog pump, try calling your local auto parts store.

Re: Serpentine Q
Remove the smog pump and leave the bracket there. Then buy a belt for a truck without smog pump. The new belt will bypass the smog pump location, going from the A/C compressor to the crank pulley. Lots of late 80's GM trucks came factory equipped with an empty AIR pump bracket and a belt running straight down across there.

Re: Serpentine Q
Here is a picture of the serp. setup from my 1990 K1500 without air pump. Note the idler pulley where the air pump would have been.
