another ebay "excellent" truck

well i was browsing ebay tonight and came across this 1971 gmc with an excellent body and interior. if you read the ad it says body appears in excellent condition for its age. it also states the truck has been hit on the drivers door and the water level did not pass the brake pedal. now i may be wrong but looks to be more than door damage to me, and that excellent interior looks a lil hacked for the radio and jusk courious if the junk in the seat came from the water only reachin the brake pedal. if thats an excellent truck, mine must be a one of a kind.

Excellent must have a different definition to the seller. Maybe it was his head with the flood damage not just the truck.

Re: another ebay "excellent" truck

Sounds like he bought it off ebay himself, realized it was crap, and is now trying to unload it onto someone else. Also, I'll bet she was in some high flood waters. It was probably lifted from where it was parked and slammed into a tree or telephone pole. Just my somewhat educated guess. Other than that, it really does appear to be a nice truck

I thought this was funny:

"BUT IF PURCHASED BY AN AMERICAN IT WILL STAY IN THE US."

Really? Never would have guessed that

Yeah, the cab and bedside is also damaged. The cab would be hard to fix for a weekend warrior. But it could be a nice part truck....

Re: another ebay "excellent" truck

That truck was at an insurance auction in Jackson about a week ago. You can look at the gauges and tell that it has been submerged. It probably hit a tree while floating down the street in Katrina, lol.

Re: another ebay "excellent" truck

That truck was originally on the coast here, owned by a GI on base (thus the oregon tags) Some of those dents were there before the Katrina. They have HUGE fields of flood/storm damage vehicles from down here on up to jackson. BTW that was COMPLETELY under water on base. Can't tell you much more because the guy that owned it was sent to another base after the storm.

There's a reason behind it. He won't explain it to every Newbie that jumps on the board here, but hey, maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones.

edit: Ignore me, thought you were trying to stir up trouble with a long-standing member, then realized you were refering to the e-bay listing.

As far as I'm concerned, flood water didn't damage the tow hooks. That looks like $350 after a little sanding and painting.

Re: another ebay "excellent" truck

Holy crap, I missed the tow hooks. If they are the 72 only hooks they are worth more like $500 (on ebay!) I would guess flooded or not it will be OK, there is no computer or anything like that. It probably took on water in the gas tank and motor, but if you clean it up like you would a truck that has been sitting for years ie, clean gas tank out, drain oil, change plugs, etc, etc it could be a nice one. Easily worth $100 if that is what the starting bid is. Heck I know someone down there, I may buy it just for the hooks!!
