Billet instrument panels
Could someone here please let me know who else produces these panels. I've seen a few here and there, but still haven't found exactly what i'm looking for. Here's is Brothers Trucks version, but still not to my liking. I'd like something fully polished with a little more ball milling. Also i'd prefer the factory contours and not just a flat panel.
I do like their idea of a 2 5/8" hole instead of the usual 3 3/8 " between the 5" holes. If i cant find anything, i may have to resort to having one machined to my specifications. Thanks !! Chris

Re: Billet instrument panels
This might be of interest : http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...5&postcount=11
Pics of their products: 3-hole brushed billet: http://brothersonlinestore.com/prodi...mber=TMD6110-1 7-hole brushed billet: http://brothersonlinestore.com/prodi...number=TMD6110 7-hole aluminum: http://brothersonlinestore.com/prodi...number=CGP6772 So, you see, Brothers sells an aftermarket billet dash like this and so do others, that link above will give you Steve's (from Brother's truck parts) thoughts on what you should watch out for - apparently there are several people making them, but some are lesser in quality. In particular, there have been some debates about the bezels here, that thread in particular has some mudslinging in it between Steve from Brothers and another engineer/member here named Javier Sanchez whose billet pieces have been used by a few members here at the forum with little or no complaints. Javier's info: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...4&postcount=24 Pictures of Javier's products and dash kit: http://www.jjengineering.us/products/products.htm http://www.jjengineering.us/products...h/6772dash.htm When Steve @ Brothers talks above about "Rubber bands" to hold in the gauges and stop em from spinning when knocking other people's products, he's talking about the rubber O-rings on Javier's dash kit that snug up into a channel on the back of the dash to keep the gauges from spinning as can be seen in a fuzzy picture here: http://www.jjengineering.us/products...sh/69oring.jpg I've been also doing a lot of searching on billet dashes out of personal interest, hence why I've got all this info I take everything printed at this forum with a grain of salt. I don't necessarily think either man is really telling the entire truth and I am certain both products have their flaws. Being an engineer myself (software/hardware), I have personal issues with people who take ideas from other people and roll them up to make a product...but again - I'm taking those statements with a grain of salt. I hear that Brothers is a stand-up place to buy from and I also hear that Javier is a stand-up guy putting out a quality product, therefore I refuse to judge. Good luck on your purchase and please post pictures after your install so we can all learn from your work.

Re: Billet instrument panels
Here is mine. It is from Covans. I was also looking for something different along your same lines. This one is made of abs but it looks great and they make a glove box cover to match. It has more of the style of the factory one as well not just flat.

Re: Billet instrument panels
I've been doing a lttle surfing myself on the dash inserts.
I finally ordered a polished one from Stylinconcepts,,should be here today? It's more of a cover for the origanal bezel? I was looking at one from www.dolphingauges.com $190,,then i noticed they get theres from www.boeseengineering.com,,called em up,,,same insert $160. I looked at a ton of them,,I'm new to this board ,,so the right-up's & pics help me a lot. TraderJon |

and a link to it http://www.covansclassic.com/parts/d...12667.106.8.30 It was $749 with the Auometer ultra lite gages, wiring harness and sending units. It turned out great. I also purchased the glove box matching cover. I think it was $50. |

Re: Billet instrument panels
WoW !! Talk about a response !!
Shifty... Thanks a million for all the info !! I really like the Javier panel. The arch milling is really cool ! Haven't seen that before. I could always polish it then clear coat it. The No Limit panel is also nice, but i'd prefer keeping the light and wiper switching at the top of the panel. Their ball milled glove box is simply..Awesome !!! Covan's Classics has some really slick units also. I came real close to purchasing one last year while in Houston. But, my love for billet won out. Anyhow, i appreciate all the info from you guys. Now i just have to decide which one i want. I'll let everyone know when i do !! Thanks again ! Chris
