What's NF on crankshaft mean?

I'm sending out the parts to start the rebuild on my wife's 350. Just wondering what the NF on the crank stood for.

Try asking in the engines section if you don`t get an answer here.

Re: What's NF on crankshaft mean?

Oh crap, you had to ask......you will no doubt get several answers. I have seen many replies.......some say nodular ferris (iron), some say that all the cranks are nodular(cast steel),& the mark, or letters you see are a foundary mark? On the cast cranks, they are ALL cast steel......that leaves the mark to be from the foundary. In the case of the big bad Olds, the capital N is said to be the 1st choice, or a little cn as a good 2nd choice? Sooo... Me thinks its a casting mark L
