Re: I'd like everyone's opinions on my truck

I don't know. In one breath you admit its pride that's driving you, then in another you admit you don't have much spare cash to throw at it. Isn't pride one of the seven deadly sins?

I say if you're driven by vanity, and you're short on cash, leave it alone. It appears you won't be happy with whatever the results are based upon the budget.

Who cares what someone else thinks, my opinion included .

Re: I'd like everyone's opinions on my truck

Kevin - I think you'd be much happier with a shiny green Geo metro, so I'll come by and swap you mine for that "POS" lookin truck. At least you could get great gas mileage. Seriously - I like it, but all of our opinions don't mean jack if you don't like it. I have no doubt it will look good no matter what you do with it - your rides always look good. I'll be watching for pictures of whatever route you go.

Re: I'd like everyone's opinions on my truck

Fill the sidemarkers, or put some danged lights in them Same with the bent-up bumper, nothing says POS more than a bunch of missing parts

Your obviously not happy with how it looks anymore. I like your idea. I primed my truck with some PPG primer/sealer back in '96 and it has held up to being parked outside and covered in 3 feet of snow. Only in the past couple years has a few spots of surface rust shown up. The truck was bare when it was primed and only one coat was put on. It looks like crap now, but it looked good for about 5 years.

Here's my ideas
Do everything you said in your first post.
Put some lights in the bumper or replace it.
Fill the sidemarkers or put some "deluxe" lights in them.
Paint the rallys with the same color primer on the body.
Drive the piss out of it

Re: I'd like everyone's opinions on my truck

Another thought. What about a two tone satin job? With the rallys of course.

Here is what I was refering to when I said black primer. It almost looks like a satin.

Re: I'd like everyone's opinions on my truck

I'll put in my two cents, since it's free.
Red oxide wouldn't look right w/ the blue interior.
I say shave the emblems, satin white paint, chrome powder coat the ralleys(not really chrome, but very bright silver), tint the windows, straighten the bumpers and add some new light lenses. But like others have said, it's your truck, do what you like.
It's a shame the people giving you looks don't know or probably wouldn't appreciate the story of how you got it. That's what makes your truck so bad a$$!

Re: I'd like everyone's opinions on my truck

I agree with with the flat implement paint. I went to the local tractor supply store have $35 in satin black paint and a few hors in hand sanding the faded cracked factory gold paint. Looks a million times better. As soon as it warms up around here (Iowa) my buddy is going to lay down some pinstripping to add to the rat rod look.
