Progress on my 71
After weeks of shaving, filling, and sanding I made what looks like progress. Got about 3/4 of the truck in primer ready for final sanding and paint. Still have to do everything from the firewall forward and inside the bed. Been procrastinating on the front half. Have to pull the motor and tranny and been putting it off. Guess I'll get them out sometime in the next few days then I guess I'll start the process again welding up the firewall, filling, sanding, more sanding, more sanding.......

Re: Progress on my 71
Jim,
Looking good man. I am still planning on making a visit. I was just waiting on George. If you have been following the posts in the General board, he has been spending most of his time at the hospital with his wife. Keep it up. It will look even better when we get by there.

Re: Progress on my 71
she is looking good, it's nice to see someone taking the proper steps to do a nice build. I admit you have a nice shop there, I only have a 2 car garage that I can barely fit my 67 in, lol. Are you going to do your own paint? The primer job is really taking shape, I been wanting to paint one of my vehicles in my garage using this water based paint, the results look promising just wondering what your opinion may be on it: http://classictrucks.com/tech/0604cl_ct56/ Check it out and let me know what you think....may try it on my crap car, 3 years ago I sprayed it with a rattle can on the roof and trunk and it came out ok, this looks like a better deal. Nice job man! Keep up the envy!

Built this shop about 2 or 3 years ago. It's 30x40 with a 20x20 part I just added on where the truck is. Other part is full so I hope I can keep this part mostly empty to do paint/body work. Going to paint it myself. I have painted a lot of cars/trucks and have used Acrylic Enamel and Lacquer. Never tried any water based paint so don't know what to say about it. Get a half way decent HVLP spray gun and a cheap can of Enamel and reducer and try it on a old hood or car. It's really not that hard to do. |
