2x4 or 4x4 that is the question
ok so here is the deal.my 69 k10 cab has seen better days.it need new floor pans, cab corners, the dash has a hole in it and the firewall is rusted bad.
I have two other cabs to choose from a 69 c10 and a 71 c10 with ac.both of those are 2x4.both of those just need cab corners.would it be easier to use the 71 ac cab (planning on putting ac in k10 when done) and build the high hump or try to redo 69 k10.what is involved in building the large tranny hump? Re: 2x4 or 4x4 that is the question
My preference would be the 71 cab since it is set up with the cable type accelerator linkage, (adding the cable linkage can be done but the cab is made different from the 69 in this area). Cutting the low hump out with a plasma cutter and welding in the nuts for the removable high hump is fairly easy.

Re: 2x4 or 4x4 that is the question
Patching the 69 K10 would entail much work and it's still not an A/C cab that is configured differently than non A/C cabs.
Converting the 69 C10 non A/C cab to A/C requires firewall heater/evaporator hole reconfiguring (cutting and welding in patches to reshape the holes). As Jim said, cutting the floor of the 71 C10 A/C cab for the bolt in high hump would be quick and easy. And I never would have thought of the accelerator cable difference. Easy choice. Go 71 C10 A/C cab to avoid cutting the firewall of the 69 C10 for A/C or doing all the rust repair on the 69 K10. IOW, what Jim said.

OR... You could use a body lift and not need to cut out the hump at all. Just adding another option, no idea of your 4x4 plans. |
