Fleetside Tonneau Covers

I am searching for a Tonneau cover for my 1970 CST fleetside longbox. The truck is black and I have been leaning towards a hard fiberglass cover that will also be painted black. Alot of the fiberglass ones stickup and make the trucks look like a station wagon. I did see one truck with a rather flat hard cover that looked nice. Does anyone have any experience and info for me on fiberglass covers?

I have been doing some searching and I did find this plastic "versacover." It looks pretty flat and is already black. Their selling point is it looks factory. I think the vinyl black look would be ok with the gloss black body. The price is around $700 including shipping. Alot better than the hard fiberglass ones I have found. Has anyone used these covers before? They don't list our trucks but I think a cover for a Ford will fit, anyone know the answer to this question?

The semi ridgid rollup covers also look pretty nice. Does anyone know were I can check these out for my truck.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Fleetside Tonneau Covers

Checkmate makes one that fits inside the top of the bed.

Re: Fleetside Tonneau Covers

I have a tonneaumaster soft side cover, it seems to be the one that is advertised in LMC. I know you are looking at the hard covers, but if your like me and you have not done a resotoration then soft is the way to go. It keeps the rain out and today when I was at work I decided to go get a load of mulch. Rolled it up with the supports took it off and bam, ready to load. Didnt have to go home to get take it off.

just a thought.

Re: Fleetside Tonneau Covers

Jim Carter offers the soft frame-type in any color you order.I always have had them made at upholstery shops in the traditional way with snaps in the body. The teeny holes just never bothered me and that was just the way it was done. But,for my stitcher to do a frame-type in a color,I`d have to buy a black one just to get the frame, them have him make the color I want.I`ll call Carter if I ever need a frame-type.

Re: Fleetside Tonneau Covers

Check on ebay. I saw one on there a while ago, brand new, for around $200.

Re: Fleetside Tonneau Covers

When I sold my 95 F150, I had an "Access" soft rollup cover on it. When the guy beat me down on price, I told him I'd let it go but keep the cover. With a little work, it fit on my 71. Was able to make it look like it was meant to be there. I'm a big fam of Access covers and would recomend them to anybody.
