Help! My frame is gone - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

During the process of taking my 69 4x4 apart i realized the very front of my
frame had been cut off where it curves and boxes up.Do i need to have a piece on there 'cause i can take my torch and cut it off my junk truck and weld it on.This truck never had a bumper on it when i owned it because it
had a plow on it and i don't really know where it bolts on.Before the frame ends there is one bolt hole that looks like the bumper bolts to ,is that correct.
Can someone get me a picture of the front of a 4x4 frame.I cant show you
a picture of mine 'cause my camera broke.

The top middle bumper bolts on with an "L" shaped bracket that sits on the very top of the front of the frame. Look at your parts frame and compare it to your new frame and see if there is still enough area left for it to sit on. They may have just cut the very front "boxed" face off so the plow would slide into the frame rails. Also the other middle front bumper bolts at the bottom actually bolts to the frame itself, so yeah, you might need to do some cutting and pasting. Again, check your other frame.

About 2 inches of the front of the frame is missing.The frame is cut off
right after the bolt holes.

The "L" bracket sits on and bolts to the top hole and the bumper bolts directly to the bottom hole. If you want to install a bumper you will need to add that section back on.

Think i will cut off the front of my parts truck.But then who would want the frame.

Just cut em off the other frame and let someone else worrry about mounting a bumper to it..
