How to do a frame-off?
A few questions: What's the best way to lift the cab and bed (long, wide) off the frame? Where do you then set the cab and bed to access underneath them? My 69 looks great from the outside, but I have lots of surface rust on the frame, under the floor pan, etc. And there's no way I can get to it all without pulling the cab and bed. Thanks for your advice.

Well if you have a sand blaster & dont mind wearing the sand you good do o.k. job of getting grime off the bottom, but if you rally want it to be nice it is worth taking the cab off to do it. To take the bed off is not that bad if you have 3-4 friends to help just put it on some sturdy saw horses. the cab you can set on a skid with some caster wheels so you can roll it around, makes it alot easier. Hope I helped.

The bed's easy, but what's the best way to lift the cab. Can 4-6 guys lift it from the bottom? I have heard that you run a couple 4x4 pieces of lumber from the driver's side to passenger side and lift it by the roof. But that sounds like too much weight on the roof.

I lifted & set the last cab with a picker through the window(rolled down first!). I pulled the seat,& set up chains fastened to the floor(off seat mounting holes), & had to drill a hole center of the trans hump,close to the firewall to bolt a chain to get "balance". 4 guys can lift the cab,but its a stumble walk across the rails. I have heard of people using the 4x4 method but they have everything stripped from the cab. Doors, windshield,etc etc.

My self and my son-in-law lifted my cab on and off the frame a couple of times. It was stripped, no doors or anything, except for the windshield.
