tailgate

What is the difference between a truck gate and a blazer gate? Is it just the weather strip on the top?

Re: tailgate

Yep thats all. Unless you have a 71 and up, they have the rubber gaskets around the tailgate too.

Re: tailgate

SO the only thing that stops the gate from being opened from the outside is the overhang of the rear hatch? My gate was shaved and I don't like it.

Re: tailgate

Right. And if you don't have the little metal thingy on the top of the tailgate, the hatch won't stop you opening it either!

Re: tailgate

Mount some seat belt latches on the inside, then the gate cannot be opened unless the fiberglasss hatch is opened first.

Did you do this? I'm having a hard time picturing this. Do you have any pics?

Re: tailgate

I am planning on replacing the stock latches with "Bear Claw" latches used for hot rods for my Gate mods. I may also go with an electric release that is controled by remote.

Re: tailgate

I know it cost more and is more labor intensive and it loses the stock apeal,
but wouldn't relocating the handle to the inside kill every security problem?
