Quick fuel pump question...

OK I just replaced my fuel pump on my 67 gmc w/ a 305. Was a 2 line pump and I replaced it w/ a 3 line pump. I was told at the auto parts store which was what and to cap the smaller line. As Im writing this I think I know why my carb was flooding like the Titanic. It was covered in gas. The smaller line is the return line? If so where does it hook to? thx yall!

72 trucks with AC used a return line fuel pump and the return line connected to the sending unit which has two tubes in it. (One for the return the other for the fuel feed line).

There may be other models of the 72 truck that used the two line sending unit as Chevy Duty (Classic Parts of America) lists the unit for 72 V-8's with auto transmission.

I would go back to the parts store and tell them you want the right pump. There are 3 versions of that pump for the 305 two with 2 lines that are almost identical other than the mounting holes are different sizes, and the other pump has three lines. If I was at work I could give you the Carter #'s for all of the pumps.
