a small block Chevy is a small block chevy from 283-400 cubic inches in the way they mount and mate up to transmissions (that is until the more modern blocks) However I would be skeptical that the 327 is stock, likely the stock motor was a 307 or 350. I personally like the 327, it's an awesome engine that raps out great and has plenty of torque. If it were me I would stick with the 327 over a 350 but it's all about personal pererence. Oh and welcome to the site!

No 327s in`70.The front axle is first year open knuckle/last year drum...`70 only(Chevy/GMC 1/2t trucks`n`Suburbans,Jimmy, and Blazer).I have a complete`70 Blazer parts vehicle with a TH350/NP 205 which is the same up through the`70s.Your truck should have the same. The rear axle is the very universal 12-bolt.But,2wds with leaf springs have wider spring mount locations(can be repositioned). Can you get some pictures up of it?
