Harmonic Balancer

Getting a new balancer for the new motor. Trucks come stock with 8". The 6" balancer is 15.00 cheaper. Does anyone think the smaller balancer will be alright or should I go with the 8"

Re: Harmonic Balancer

I asked the same when I was buying the new engine for my truck. Everyone I talked to kind of said to get whatever. I went with the 6 3/4 or whatever it is because it was what my truck came with.

Re: Harmonic Balancer

You should be going with whatever size the engine came with originally.

Re: Harmonic Balancer

I also bought the 6 3/4 from summit for my gm crate engine. From what I read some race engine builders went the 6in. over the 8in. balancers for improved horsepower with no negative effects on the engines harmonics. The difference being in a lighter mass to rotate equalling slightly higher horsepower.
