Help me decode 1972 GMC 1500 Sierra VIN?

Do you know how I can tell what options the truck came w/ didn't come with? Maybe what the original paint scheme was as well? Some of the stuff on the truck is mismatched a little from what I can tell. It's got a "Sierra Grande 1500" badge on the fender, but the 70's cheese wood stickers are gone (or were never there) on the inside of the truck for the dash/glovebox. It does have the fakey-do wood inserts on the doors that look original. It's got factory AC, 350/350, bench seat which while recovered looks like the original one. It's currently medium blue with a white cab. Without grinding on it I'd like to find out if the area between the belt mouldings was originally white or not. The truck has been repainted.

I just ordered my first set of parts from LMC truck to get big blue rounded out. It seems like lots of recommendations for them, classic industries, and "Chevy Duty" now renamed to Classic parts. I ordered a few parts from each one so I could compare customer service.

Anyways - thanks for your help with my laundry list of questions.

Hope you get the right parts when your LMC stuff gets in....they've NEVER gotten an order right for me, and I simply stopped buying from them....too expensive too.

Onless the option sheet is in the glove box, or you get REAL lucky and find the build sheet stuffed in the seat springs (highly unlikely since it's been recovered) you'll never know the original options.

There is an option sheet in the glove box, but I know (and have seen) reproduction ones so hard telling if it's the original one..or is there a way I can tell?

Also - where in the seat springs is the build sheet? Maybe they left it there.

if you can get a pic of the option sheet, we can tell you if it's fake. Most fake ones are plain as day. Make sure to match the VIN on th4e sheet to the one in the door jamb.
In the seat cuisions... *normally* on the seat back. Pull the seat out and look at the back, and then flip it and look in the bottom. you'll see it if it's there. Big piece of paper....30 years old, all stained and crumbly.
Sometimes they're found between the back wall and the fuel tank, under the carpet, up under the dash... but most in the trucks are stuffed in the seat springs.
