Are 31 X 10.50 X 15 Tires Unsafe for Front of 2WD ???
I am trying a set of 31 X 10.50 on my 68 2WD. The wheels are 8.5 wide with 3 5/8 back space. Pretty large offset to outside, they were on a 4wd blazer.
Truck rides rougher and gets "twichy" on the front unless road is real smooth. They do need balanced, but they are going to be driven by my 15 year old son soon to get his licence. We like the looks and how the fill up the wheel well, but I don't want him to wreck a newly restored truck or get hurt because we put too big or the wrong tires on there. Please offer any suggestions here - Thanks.

I have 31 x 10.5 x 15 BFG Long Trail radials on my 67 2wd with no problems, rides smooth and straight. Maybe you need to play around a little with the tyre pressures as well as have them balanced until you find a pressure that suits. I run muine at about 30psi.

Does the truck have a front sway bar?
I agree with Lippyp that you need to get the tires balanced and try different pressures, but a sway bar is the best, cheapest handling modification you can make.

I only fitted my sway bar recently, even without one it still rode fine, it was however like cornering in a small sailing boat before the sway bar was fitted. Now much less lean and more confident cornering.

A steering damper will probably help alot. Took a whole bunch of the jumpiness out of mine. Good Luck
