Eggman`s truck...Really!
This old guy is the original owner. He delivered eggs.Had it restored and still loves driving it around.I told him I`d buy it if it ever came to that. He`ll prolly die first and it won`t leave the family.

Re: Eggman`s truck...Really!
WOW. Just when I thought I had seen it all, along comes the egg truck. I have seen stepvans(as I call them) in 1/2, 3/4, 1T and more. I would love to have a 1/2T stepvan for swap meets and stuff.
But - I have never seen that particular set-up before. I didn't look close enough to tell what series. Would love to know about interior, options, drivetrain, etc. Thanks for sharing this us - Bob

Re: Eggman`s truck...Really!
that is a 68 cowl/chassis model. I think 68 was the last year, and that o0ne looks to be a 10 series.

Re: Eggman`s truck...Really!
Yeah,it`s the cowl`n`chassis, the same thing a school bus or armored car is made from.I think it`s a Boyertown body from Pennsylvania. It has the StepVan-type seat and dash would just be flat. The column and steering wheel are Chevy. It`s a 292/4spd,C/20,coil rear.It was bare-bones,but it`s got the bright trim on the grille.Could have been added when restored, could have been optioned as it`s self.Notice the painted bumper and hubcaps. He was hauling yard brush to the mulcher at the landfill.

Re: Eggman`s truck...Really!
Tugowar, thanks for the crop-job,I know I`ll have these scans down soon. These are my first attempt.I have years of photos.Didn`t own a digital`til last year.
It`s fugly, meaning funky/ugly,but look at it this way,the front end gives the box some style. It broadens the line of trucks we love.Like a 67-72 frame mount RV or a tow truck. All the rest are just RVs and tow trucks, but,"look at that one,it`s a`70 Chevy!" Now,if I could just find those pictures of The Walrus' Amphicar.

Re: Eggman`s truck...Really!
Thanks for posting the pics, cereal man. I had forgotten that I saw this truck at an an estate auction a few years ago.
I tried to describe the truck when I was replying to a thread about rear gas tank options.I described it as a bread truck- thats what I remembered them as.These trucks had a rear gas tank that filled behind the rear wheels but the interesting part is that the tank had a half moon shaped indent for the spare tire!I thought that it might work on our trucks for a rear tank and still be able to have a spare tire under the bed.

Re: Eggman`s truck...Really!
The 5 or 6inch space behind the fenders and cowl are interesting. I would really like to see the driver's space. If you sit like most bread trucks the steering column would go down rather than forward like a regular cab. If the column goes down it must have the bread truck dashboard area. Also if the column goes down how does it get to the steering box which would appear to be located in the normal pick-up location.
Why is that 5 or 6inch space behind the fenders and hood?

Re: Eggman`s truck...Really!
Bob, I remember peeking into the truck in the driver's side and the gauges were bigger than the stock ones and the dash wasn't the one that came in our trucks either, I was told that cowl/chassis trucks may've had different gauges.
As far as that extra space behind the fenders I don't have a clue

Re: Eggman`s truck...Really!
I think that was special sheetmetal from factory on cowl/chassis to terminate the clip. All body makers flat panels to mate. The gauges are StepVan-type.I believe the seat was on brackets and fixed, but nothin`fancy.I have one more picture(with glare into the sun).I haven`t had a chance to do the improvements to my scans, sorry:

Re: Eggman`s truck...Really!
Unbelieveable!!I took these pictures a few years and just figured how to post and did. Then, there`s two other uys that are familiar with the same truck, right?Well,I guess talking about it made it appear.I was on my way to gn4u2c`s house and I saw it ready to back out from a house.I think it was a yard sale.If it was at an estate sale,I`m afraid the eggman may no be no longer with us,I can`t imagine he would have sold it after restoring his ol`buddy.
