Frame damage?

I was cleaning up my truck a little this weekend and am having an issue with the starter and need to replace it. While I was under the truck to tap on the starter to get it in the garage I noticed what looks to be a bent frame???? I have two pics of the spot in question and it looks as the frame starts to go down and under the cab it is tweeked a little Am I looking at it correctly and am I right? I didn't see the same tweeks on the DS and I figure it has been hit pretty good to say the least. Just looking for some verification if it is indeed bent and how/if it can be fixed. Randy

Re: Frame damage?

Does not appear that the frame is damaged. What is leading you to think so?

Re: Frame damage?

Here is a couple of different shots of it, the spot is kinda dimpled on the bottom. I have tried to outline it in the pics, as the striaght edge pics wouuld come out to see it. It looks as if it has been hit in the front and both sides have been pulled on. Both the DS and PS frame rail have the dimples on the bottom side of the rail in the same spot.(close enough) I hope these pics help to see it better. Thanks for the help!! Randy

Re: Frame damage?

Looks pretty normal to me, but still hard to tell. Is the frame cracked anywhere? Is there damage on the frame horns to show possibility of front end crash?

Re: Frame damage?

it's possible that it could be tweaked a little but i highly doubt it. all of the frames i have ever seen for these trucks have wavy spots on the the frame rails. call it bad stamping or GM being cheap, either way it's not worth your time to fix it unless your building a show truck.

Re: Frame damage?

Did that have a manual trans at one time ? That looks like about the spot where it would have been riveted in, maybe some not so careful crossmember removal ?? Just a thought.

Re: Frame damage?

Just park on a level shop floor and take measurements on both sides, if you have same rubber and inflation all around measurements should be close on both sides, you could also compare to anouther truck of same vintage.
