Talking How many trucks did it take to make yours?

I just counted parts from at least 11 different trucks on my ride. But it could be more...

Most of it is still the original farm truck.
The right fender and doorskin came off a junkyard truck before I got it (A reminder of Grandpa's last drive!)
The visors and seatbelts came from a 1968 junkyard truck.
A couple of small parts came off of a 1970 junkyard truck.
Two of the wheels also came out of a pile at a junkyard.
The mirrors, door handles and side reflectors came from a swap.
The hubcaps also came from a swap meet.

The replacement bed came off a 1968 Anniversary Edition truck from a board member!
The battery tray came out of a 1968 GMC from a board member!
The washer bottle holder and under dash wiring harness came from a board member!
The fuel sender also came from a board member!

There is probably more in there, too.

Re: How many trucks did it take to make yours?

If you want to count every little piece...... probably 50 or so AND not all of them were 67-72 chevy trucks. I've pirated from probably 15 different newer silverado's and S-10's. Numerous 67-72's.... AND LOTS or repo parts.

Re: How many trucks did it take to make yours?

How about other MAKES? My truck now has a Dodge front axle, a Chevy rear axle, an International transfer case, and transmission from a Chevy C60. Plus the numerous other little pieces. And the best part? It's nowhere NEAR done...i'm sure I will be responsible for the downfall of a few more before its finished.

Re: How many trucks did it take to make yours?

Dunno what to say here -- aside from replacing water pumps, batteries, brakes, and wheels, mine is pretty much OEM. Oh yeah, Softride 2" front springs, HEI ignition, 4-row radiator, aftermarket radio.... but no other truck parts have been grafted onto it.

Re: How many trucks did it take to make yours?

About half a dozen. Front end from a 71 (yay, disc brakes!) One bedside from a 67 (no sidemarker) which was actually converted into a trailer that a buddy had. Been thru a couple sets of doors. Rear coils from some other truck. Tilt column from a mid 70's GM van. Rad overflow bottle from an '82 camaro. Its amazing how Chev/GM parts in general can be so interchangeable! Otherwise its all original 1970 GMC truck.

Engine from a '75
Rear axle from Putter's '69

It is not mine but "Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!" has more truck and burb parts that gave their life for this build than I want to admit to. I would get shot if I added up what we have done

Re: How many trucks did it take to make yours?

no way i could even come up with an accurate estimate.it had major componites of at leat 4 before i got it. at least 12 more now for major parts.new fenders and nothing says half the parts borrowed from those other trucks were oraginal to them then add in all the little stuf from hear and there[ junk yards , e-bay , board members, freinds, neighbors and my collection of junk] and probably double that before im done. no one will ever know!!!!!!!

Re: How many trucks did it take to make yours?

In my case it all came off only 5 trucks with a sixth one indirectly invovled.

1. Most of my stuff came off a wrecked '71 that I bought for only $125 sans engine and trany of course.
Disk brakes, spindles and rear axle
Power brake booster came off the donor truck but I later found out it was from a '75 truck
Side Marker Lights
Chrome Front Bumper
Lap belts for the middle of the seat
Rear slide window
Instrument bezel

2. Power steering pump and gear box from about a 69 or 70 model GMC

3. '72 Blazer gas tank, fuel inlet and sender

4. Left window reg was acquired from one of the members on the forum.

5. Hood hinges from one of the members on the forum

Everything else came from aftermarket suppliers

Re: How many trucks did it take to make yours?

Let's see:

Engine--'78 G30 (that's what the suffix says anyway; I have no idea as this engine was already in the truck when I bought it.)
Transmission--'64 C10
Rear End Pig 1 (when I bought the truck, 4.57)--'64 C20
Rear End Pig 2 (current, 4.10)--'69 C20
Trailing arms--no idea, I bought 'em off a board member from KS
Bed--no idea, it's not a '67 I do know that for sure
Tailgate--'71 C10
Steering box--no idea, bought it off Ironhorse
Window regulators--no idea, bought 'em off FrenchBlue72
Helper springs & sway bar--no idea, bought 'em off roj2323
Wiper switches--no idea, bought 'em off 67sss
Steering wheel--no idea, bought 'em off a board member
Instrument panel--'72 C50

So that's 13 trucks.

'07 Outback--wife's car. 125k & counting. No head gasket or transmission issues yet. *fingers crossed*
