Need a Tailgate.

I have a friend that bought a 71 Chevy 4WD burb. He is going to restore it, and is having a hard time finding a tailgate and the flip up window.

They are rusted pretty bad due to the rear AC dripping on them.

Any ideas on where to look, or is he out of luck?

thanks

jeff

www.car-part.com or ebay. They are usually $150 and up used. The upper is called a liftgate. I've seen a few on here too.

Re: Need a Tailgate.

I had the same problem with an east coast rig of my own. I live in california now and i frequently see suburbans in rust free condition on craigslist and on the roads. My point is that these parts are out there and that a concerted effort to search for them could bare fruit. Set yourself a value and look into shipping costs, then put out an offer on the web. If the number is more than you can justify, mold some sheet metal and get mig welding. It's been done before.
