Painless Question
I'm in the middle of installing a painless wiring harness, and I have a question. Does the large Maxi-Fuse have the be mounted on the firewall near the transmission tunnel? Can it be mounted near the battery and replace the original junction block? Picutures would be great if you have any. I looked at Tim Christian's at Pigeon Forge and his was mounted low on the firwall. Any input would be great.

anywhere near the battery, mine is under the bed of my truck as the battery is in the bed.

I decided on the "painful wiring" kit... restoring the original harnesses.

Thanks for the input. I wanted to mount it closer to the battery. So far it has not been that difficult. You have to re-use your half moon connector on the steering column and splice in the headlight connectors as the kit is made for both chevy and GMC, but other than those the kit comes with just about all of the connectors. I bought a taillight harness kit which you would want to do it your taillights have been cobbled up like mine were. I've still got a way to go, but when I'm finished I'll let you know as to the painlessness of it.
I am a little confused about the wiring for the lights on the AC controls. I've got a gray wire that has the sockets for the bulbs on it, but I'm not sure where to connect it to.

I hate painless wiring harnesses. I would rather take a rigged original and rewire it( i have done it) then ever use there harnesses. The truck I did use the painless wire kit on I put the maxifuse next to the battery where the old junction block was. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I haven't got back to it yet, but plan to Thursday and Friday. I'll mount the maxi next to the battery. I was wondering about where to connect the wire that contains the sockets. Jeremy.
