My Stupid ?'s for the day - bolt size
I forgot to check the size of the intake bolts on my 454 in preparation for pulling the engine using an engine level and hoist. What is the diameter of the intake bolts and they are coarse, correct?
When the engine is out and I'm going to bolt it to an engine stand, what diameter bolts do I need, again I'm assuming they are coarse thread.

Yukon,
I think all the bolts you ask about are 3/8-16, which is coarse thread. If they had a 9/16 head on them, then they are indeed 3/8. When you bolt her up to the engine stand, be sure to use grade 8 bolts (6 marks on the head), or you may end up with "engine on floor or toe syndrome". Also, be sure those bolts engage at least 1 1/2 diameters of threads (more than 9/16").

Hey Mark! Are you getting close to doing the swap? Or are you just pulling the 454 to get it ready? Let me know, I'm committed to something very important on Sat. (the Oklahoma - Texas game, he-hee), but can probably make it Sun. if you need help. Have you heard from Jason?

It won't be this weekend for sure. I'm just getting ready to pull the engine so I can start cleaning it up and paint if needed. May not be able to get to the swap until after Halloween. Just have to see how my weekend schedules look and then try to coordinate with Jason and your football schedule. I did get a new color tv for my wife and you can probably borrow it from her so you can watch the game and hand out tools. I've got a recliner in the basement that we can bring out for you too! Could probably even bring the little bar fridge (stocked of course) out and park it next to you and your recliner. You'll be pimpin' for sure.

I'm in! I've never been in on an engine swap that was enjoyable before, he-hee! Keep me posted, I'll be up there when you need me. By the way, Sis called last night, and they are heading up to K.C. to the goodguys show this weekend, hopefully they'll bring back some good pics to share. Cya!

You know when I replaced my intake manifold recently I got some of those polished manifold bolts from Summit Racing. The're 3/16-16, but they have a flanged smaller head on them (I think they're 7/16). A lot easier to work with. I'm really happy with them.
