engine removal Q
I’m I going to need to remove the trans cross member if I try to pull the engine and tranny out as one unit? Can I get away with just unbolting the tranny from the cross member and leaving the cross member in place?

Re: engine removal Q
That cross member bolts up to the Tcase. I think you could leave the crossmember and Tcase in place. There is a 6" spline or so on the back of the Tranny that needs to slide out of the Tcase though. That may take some massaging.

He has a 2wd blazer -
I've pulled engine/transmission combos from cars before without removing the cross member. You may have to pull the grill/radiator/radiator support though to get enough clearance. It might be easier to pull the cross member. I'd ask on the general message board since your rig should be the same as the 2wd pickups.

Re: engine removal Q
FYI. you don't need to take out the crossmember to get the motor out. The motor and tranny made it out fine. Next up... more power and air.
