Post Tach no worky ! How to test Tach

Found the tach wires, hooked-up as I was told to...it doesn't work. How can I determine if it is the TACH and not the wires?
I have elec. ign. dist.

If you have a multimeter, you can use the Ammeter to check it. Just set your meter up for checking current, and then connect across the tach. The needle should jump if it is working. this will just let you know the tach is not bad.

NO, don't leave it connected!! disconnect the tach and have it separate. you could backfeed and blow something. Just to be on the safe side. Good Luck.
