dipstick came loose

I was checkin my oil lastnight and the frickin dipstick tube came out. Whats a good fix for this? I've got an early SBC with the oil tube on the drivers side, if it makes any difference. They're just pressed fit right? if so, then that will no longer work since its loose. I was thinking maybe some 5-minute epoxy or something along those lines? I'm sure someone on this board has had a similar experience.

i had the SAME exact problem. Those tubes are pressed in. I just pushed mine back in and used a tie wrap to tie it to some brackets so it wouldn't come off again. I think you can press a new one into place, but I haven't had much luck. I would think an oil leak would develop, but it seems the pressure is so low in the pan that it almost doesn't matter.

If it's easy to get to, i'd say epoxy would work, but for mine the tie wrap was fine.
