drop spindles

Any body used bell tech's 3 inch drop spindles on a 72 and older truck? Summit has them for 279.95. Every where else it's 300.00 plus for 2.5 inch drop. Any big difference?

Re: drop spindles

If you use 3" spindles you will need to run a wheel larger than 15" or trim the A-arm. If not it will rub when you turn full lock. If your running 17's or bigger it's not an issue. Check prices on DJM spindle if you want 3". They have been the best price for a while. Avoid AIM/Chassis Tech at all costs.

Re: drop spindles

Early Classic's 2.5'' drop spindles are only $225. Excellent quality.

Re: drop spindles

Can you buy 2" drop spindles for a 69 and would it make a big difference in the suspension v.s. a 2.5" spindle. I am running 15" aluminum wheels and I am afraid they will rub with the 2.5".

Re: drop spindles

2.5'' spindles aren't a problem with 15'' wheels depending on backspacing. How much do your wheels have?

Re: drop spindles

I do not know, Must be stock or standard. I never specified what I wanted. I will need to measure when I go back home.

Re: drop spindles

If they're around 4'' or less you'll be just fine.

Re: drop spindles

Most compainies do not offer a 3" drop spindle anymore. even a 2.5 inch drop is clsoe to a 15" wheel . I run a 16" wheel to clear the tie rod.

Re: drop spindles

Im running 2.5'' drop spindles and they rub the weights off of my 15x7 wheels with a 4 1/8 bs. It hits on the front of the lower control arms, im either going to trim them or run stick on weights.

Re: drop spindles

We used GMCPauls 2.5 drops with GM 8 inch ralleys on afr72's '72 shortstep.

The control arms hit the inner wheels badly and had to grind the control arms WAY back.
