crossmember removal

i am getting ready to remove the front crossmember from my 80 c-10 and would like to know if i should take a few measurement first. there is a couple of the holes that look like you can shift the member back/forward so should i?
or could i just remove the member and bolt it back up with no worries.
i am not going to be doing any mods to the member, i just want it out so when i coat the member i get all the way around everything.

thanks
steve

Re: crossmember removal

not sure it can be reassemble more than one way, but if you are concerned about it you could always mark 1 hole on from each frame rail with a center punch
