lol, yes, I screwed that up... 68 did have the reflectors, with lights optional. There was nothing there on the 67.

Your VIN tag is from a 1968 2wd 3/4 ton stepside with a V-8, at least that's how I decode it.....

my side markers have been filled in. How can you tell on the rear fenders? the same way?

glock, you have it right...except the step side part. You can't tell that from the VIN on a chevy. 4 means cab with bed, but doesn't specify which.
On the MODEL number, 04 is a stepside, and a 34 is a fleet.

Yes, same way on the rear fenders.
Even if the fenders are all from a 68, the VIN has been transplanted, and the chassis is a 67. Being that no one has yet prooven 68 with small back windows exist (10 - 30 series) we can safely assume, that you have a 67 cab on the 67 frame with a VIN swapped from another truck.
Who ever swapped the tag over did it a long time ago since there was yellow, then black paint.
Is there a sticker in the glove box on the inside of the door? What is the VIN on that one?

Gotcha Andy. I got that part from the LMC catalog. They say 4 = cab and stepside pickup box. Go figger.....

That mistake is written all over the web, and some one here said that Chevy's site even has it. But, it is inacurate, and easy to prove.
Plus, the chevy lit from back in the day has it right.

LOL! It's aite man! As long as you love the truck, who cares? Just tell the DMV it's a 68 and put some thick paint on the frame vin

The title matches the VIN, so it's all good

Just out of curiousity, does the VIN on the glovebox match the VIN on the frame or the VIN on the door pillar, or neither?
