1967-72 Factory Vacuum Gauge RPO Code????
Does anyone know how to tell if a 1967-1972 Chevrolet Truck came from the factory with a vaccum gauge? If so, how would it be listed on the option list inside the glove box. I know the RPO code for the Tachometer is 1U1610 and the one for the regular gauges is 1Z5320, but was the vacuum gauge listed separately like the tachometer, or was it part of the regular gauge RPO, which doesn't print out all the way on the list? I'd appreciate any help and any pictures. Thanks

I don't believe that the vacuum gauge was an option on the 10/20/30 series trucks, only larger models. I'm sure someone else will chime in on this.

I would imagine the vacuum guage was part of the brake equipment package on the larger trucks. It is not listed in my red book options list.

Any idea why the instrument cluster with factory tach + vacuum is so popular?

My truck has the tach and vacuum, + the additional gages (gauges). Is it hard to remove the vacuum gauge? I would like to keep it original if it's not supposed to be there.

What is the purpose of a vacuum gauge in a 10-20-30 series?

Fuel economy mostly in the lighter duty trucks, I'm with John about it being on the big trucks for brakes

I agree too. The vacuum gauge was for 40-50-60 series trucks with vacuum booster brakes. I think if one of these larger trucks was equipped with air brakes, the air pressure gauge goes in that hole.

That is correct, 40 & up, and if air brakes were optioned, the air guage was included automaticly.
I don't think there is an option number for the air or vac guage, I'm thinking it was automaticly included with the brake system option. |

Another neat feature some of the 40 series and up trucks had was a mechanical tachometer.

Re: 1967-72 Factory Vacuum Gauge RPO Code????
Actually, many used an electric one. I know the diesels had a cable tach, and I'm sure there was a cable tachavalible on the gassers, but of the dozen or so C/40 & up I've looked at with tachs, they were all electronic.

Most of like it for the complete gauge factor. I kinda like it being there.

Re: 1967-72 Factory Vacuum Gauge RPO Code????
Most people include it on the light duty trucks just to fill the dummy hole. It can be bought as a kit from some of the suppliers now and is an easy upgrade. If you do change it out 'kna4977', it would likely be an easy sell to someone on this board.

I kind of like it being there to fill the dummy hole as well, just curious if it was a factory option, and it looks to be established that it wasn't. What do they usually sale for? |

That would explain it, all I've seen is small blocks and inlines.. and one diesel.
