bay area, CA shop for GM trucks?
hey all,
so i took my 69 to a generic shop, they are stumped on the engine that won't turn off, and they told me they want $1200 to fix my cracked header and put in a new exhaust on just that side. seems steep to me, considering i paid $2400 for the truck. i know i heard of a guy in east bay who specializes in old GM trucks, but i can't remember his name/shop. any recommendations? i would think i could get exhaust manifold and cheapo exaust for a lot less than $1200, am i being cheap or does that seem like to much to pay? cheers droo

clarks auto is in cupertino and the boss drives a 70 longbed every day. They are a machine shop and do engine rebuilds. They are a little pricey but I trust them.

1200 to fix a cracked header. Hell it would be cheaper to buy a new set of headers and get the exhaust redone! If you put enough info on what's wrong with the engine, I bet all of us members could figure it out and you could try to fix it. Good luck. My brothers truck did the same thing and it became a bad positive cable going to the starter, but it was a F**D!

There is a Guy in Fremont Ca that sells 67-72 chevy truck parts. Not sure if he works on the trucks.
