Painting Trim
It is difficult at best to paint specific areas of trim. I've tried tape with limited sucess. Has anyone tried coating the surrounding areas where you don't want paint with vaseline, painting, then washing off the vaseline with degreasser? Seems reasonable to me, but what do I know. Your thoughts? TF

for the upper chrome molding if it's off the truck you can spray paint the whole molding with rattle can then soak a big thick sponge with laquer thinner squeeze out excess and wipe over the molding.
if you press just hard enough to hit the high spots it works fairly well.

What trim do you want to paint? I have had experience painting the bottom trim.

You'll think I'm crazy, but an old car show veteran told me to use a Sharpie, that's what a lot of guys use to touch up black. It does fade with time and washing, but it goes on real easy and quick, and can be touched up anytime, anywhere if you keep one in the glovebox. Not the perfect solution, but it does work, I've been doing it for the past three years, and no-one knows but you guys. Oh, and have a steady hand or put on some masking tape just in case.

I've done the Sharpie (actually with a Marksalot) thing on '68 lower trim. Worked like a charm. I expect to do it again in the future but it's real easy to do and hard to screw up. And if a do screw up it'll fade one day and I'll just do it again...

Sharpie
Bingo, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I need to re-do the wheel covers and the side trim. I don't have a steady hand, so I'll tape as well. You guys are great. TF
