Towing 5000lbs with a 2wd 1970 c10?
Hello all! I am wanted to restore my 1970 c10 2wd to tow my new boat. Boat and trailer weighs just under 5000lbs. I am not towing the boat more than 30min drive. I was wondering if anyone else has towed a boat with one of these trucks? I am mainly worried about pully the boat out of the water but i see alot of 2wd trucks pulling boats out. What is your opinion? I am planning to make my truck posi with 3.73 gears. I am also thinking about putting 20" wheels with semi-low profile tires. I think the low profile tires might be an issue for pulling it out of the water but i don't know for sure. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Fix it the way you want and then pull your boat. I've never had a problem pulling any boat with anything. Just be smart, take your time and remember there's a boat back there.

towing 5000 lbs should be nothing for a mechanicly sound truck. with a posi getting it out of the water shouldn't be a problem either unless you have ramps with drop offs like some around here
