Parts truck Questions

I am getting an 87 1 ton reg cab chevy truck with a 350 and and auto trans. The motor and trans is the reason i am getting the truck but I was wondering is there any thing else i can use off the truck for my 72 2wd swb before i scrap it? Sway bar, power steering, brake booster, .......

Also any body have an idea if there is a turbo 350 or 400 in there. I am going to find out for sure later today but i was just wondering if anybody knew what was standard.

Thanks
Tim

Re: Parts truck Questions

My guess is Th400. If the truck has a hydro-boost braking system save it. The 14 bolt in the rear should be the same as our 4x4 trucks, 40.5 inches between the center of the spring pads and is worth 100-150 depending on ratio/condition. Also save the one piece driveline.

Re: Parts truck Questions

Is a 79 1 ton 2wd rear the same also? I think I may be better off parting it out when I gank the 454 annd the hydroboost and maybe a fuel tank for my 70.Then I could sell the low mileage granny low 4spd with new wrecker clutch, rear end, 8 lug aluminum slots, and scrap metal.

Not sure. I know that 3/4 ton 14BFF are 42.5 or there abouts between the centers of the spring pads. They are cheap here but it takes some work to grind them off and re-set and then do the shock mounts.

Re: Parts truck Questions

Well it a turbo 400. I guess i am going to check the tank and grab the hydro boost, power steering, sway bar, and drive shaft. My brother wants the rear. Is there anything else I should be looking at?
