Re: Best MPG for a 4wd 67-72

I get 7.5 mpg with my 67.
It has a 283 2bbl, 4 spd, Rockwell 221, 3.73 posi, 235/70/15 wranglers.

My bicycle gets infinatley better milage so I will ride it to work.

I would have thought a 283 with a mild setup and 3.73's would have gotten into the teens for sure, are you sure something isn't seriously out of tune?

Re: Best MPG for a 4wd 67-72

If it were at full throttle, yes, but at partial throttle, it should be running 200cfm give or take a couple cfm....I would guess there would have to be a couple of things out of wack for a such a small sbc to get worse than bbc mileage.....either that or boundstaffpress has a really heavy right foot

Re: Best MPG for a 4wd 67-72

In my 67 k/20 with the old 305 v8 sm465/205 4.56 35inch tire setup it would would pull down 11mpg highway @ 60. I dont even bother checking mpgs in the winter or around town driving it would just depress me.
Just fired the new 400sbc and fresh Q-jet yesterday looking forward to driving it and checking the new mileage.
