Float/metering plate?
My truck only runs for about a minute or so before killing itself. Seems like a fuel problem, but you can move the pedal and hear the fuel squirting in the barrells. But when it kills itself, it makes a hissing sound and diesels (slightly backward once stopped). I'm thinking the float and/or metering plates are misadjusted somehow or something, because i'm thinking it's running VERY rich.
textual float adjustment aid? ran fine on the way home yesterday. Last edited by magnethead; 08-29-2006 at 04:31 PM. |

Re: Float/metering plate?
Is it flooded? If so, you may have something stuck in the needle and seat.

Re: Float/metering plate?
I don't think it is, but it may be..my dad thinks it may be the fuel pump, but i'm pretty sure my truch is mechanical, meaning the lobe would have to be wore off...right? (not to mention being able to hear the spray)

Re: Float/metering plate?
ok, this is wierd
BOTH 20 gal tanks are flat empty, AND I've gone essentially nowhere but home and school (2 miles), one tank has a leak on the filler neck but sureley it wouldn't be leaking as I go along, would it? |

Re: Float/metering plate?
A bad fuel pump can leak gas into the crankcase, but I wouldn't think you could lose THAT much. Does your oil smell like gas, or is it suddenly overfilled? Make sure you change it if it has gas in it.
I don't know diddly about carbs, so I'm out of ideas... Slonaker |
