throttle trouble
I have a 283 with a 2bbl carb. manual choke.
When I come to a corner, or stop sign, I push the clutch in, and the idle stays strong for a couple seconds, then gently slows and kills the engine. It hasn't always done this. It may have been happening for the last month. I only drive 500 mi per year, so it sits more than it runs. I can pull the choke out and make it run real fast, then it doesn't die, but I also don't have to give it any gas when I let the clutch out. Any ideas would be appreciated

Re: throttle trouble
Correct. Ajdust air/fuel mixture idle circuit screws. Tune for best vacuum. Then adjust idle screw to your liking. Also, you might want to spray some carb cleaner around the base of the intake and carb and see if the idle changes. It "could" be a vacuum leak but not too likely.

Re: throttle trouble
Before doing that, try spraying a can or carb cleaner all around the outside and in the carb, and if your fuel is more than 6 months old, top it off with some 92 or 93 octain and some fuel sabilizer (Sta-Bil is a popular and good working product)
