coil spring mounting - clarification?
Last night I saw in one of the aftermarket repair manuals, an actual photo of the upper mount "retainers" for the coilspring -
Their pic showed the cup facing up so the smaller center stuck down into the spring - if the rear was ever lifted high enough, the top of the spring would not be held by anything. I know I took mine off and put them back the same way - cup facing down - right? ('72 C-10 2wd)

Re: coil spring mounting - clarification?
Every truck i've had (about 10 of them...) all had the spring trapped between the frame and the large outer lip of the cup so the bolt mounting hole area sits flat against the frame. You should not be able to jack up the frame and have the spring disengage fron the cup.
I think the manual is wrong... Good luck, Rg

Re: coil spring mounting - clarification?
That's what I thought. The only thing I could think of, is that the manual is for 67-80 something - perhaps a newer model has a bit different setup. It was hard to distinguish any year from the photo. Thanks for the response.
