Re: Np 208
68crum,
The 400 trans and 465 have the same input splines. The 350/700r4 use a smaller input shaft. Virgil |

Re: Np 208
i'm new to the 4x4 world. don't know the kind of trans it has only that it is a 4 speed with granny low and a np 208TC that is cracked. i have another 208 that is in good shape but it is from an auto truck. is it a direct swap? or do i have to change some stuff? its an 81 k10 if that helps.

Re: Np 208
The 4 speed, if reverse is away from the driver and down (towards the seat) is an SM465. If reverse is to the driver and down, it would be the old SM420.
The standard trans and 400 auto trans input is 32 spline. The T350/700R4 has a 27 spline input. You can change inputs from case to case. Well, about everything should interchange between the 2. Just make sure they are GM cases, as Dodge, Ford and Jeep also used the 208. ALL the GM cases I've ever seen had 208C on the tag. I can't vouch for the others. Can anyone else say if they would be a 208D, 208F, and 208J? Thanks Virgil Last edited by 44th Miss Inf; 09-05-2006 at 09:54 PM. |

Re: Np 208
Is it easy to swap the shafts? Or should it be done by a pro?

Re: Np 208
68crum,
the inputs are not that hard to change, just a bit of time consuming if you haven't done it before. I can scan and send you an "exploded" view of a 208 case if you want. Can also try to explain how to do it. Virgil |

Re: Np 208
I just changed out the input on my NP-208. It wasn't that difficult at all.
