Stupid question but still had to ask.....

As some of you know i have another post going about brakes and what setup to buy. Anyways someone mentioned that no matter what setup i buy it still won't keep me from slidding or locking up the brakes. We don't have ABS on our trucks. That is when it got me thinking. I don't know much but is there aftermarket kits to equip our truck with ABS? That would help the brakes perform like how i would like. Also give me a little reasurance when someone cuts me off towing my boat that i could stop or slow down fast. Again sorry if it is a stupid question but still had to ask. Thanks Josh

Also i did a search and didn't see anything about ABS

I know there are aftermarket kits available, but I don't think there is a kit just for our trucks. You would have to modify your truck to use a universal type kit.

Why not just purchase a unit out of a wrecking yard? Most if not all the components could be had and adapted. The only concern is the the ABS brain may be in the black box (ECM) and therefore a hassle to get it to work.

Re: Stupid question but still had to ask.....

a good defensive driver will avoid ALOT more accidents than an average driver with ABS brake systems

Re: Stupid question but still had to ask.....

Here is a kit for calssic Chevy cars, but it looks like something that would work for anything with brakes. $325 or so, no idea what it does. I just googled "classic abs brake kit".
