68 K20 needs ID

I'm new to this site and have lots of questions about my 68 k20 lwb with a K297 transfer case (?) and a S2101 (?) 4 speed w/granny gear. First: it has an odd ID number that I have not been able to decipher. Chevy's local dealer had the same problem: # KE 2 48Z 133724. Any ideas? Second: It has a power take-off (RNG 7-11?) and winch tucked neatly under the front bumper. How can I identify it, there is no visible ID plate or #'s? Lastly, I'm located in Spokane Washington and would love to find a resident expert or enthusiasts for this vintage vehicle. Thanks.

Re: 68 K20 needs ID

Can you post some pics?

Is this a GMC or Chevy?

The transfer case should be a Rockwell T221. Does it look like this?

The transmission is probably an SM420 - I think the SM465 started in 1969, but I know some literature shows those two 4 speeds available in 1968.

You should have a closed knuckle Dana 44. Here is what the closed knuckle looks like.

The rear axle is likely an Eaton. Does it have a large round rear cover like this?

Would enjoy seeing pics of the PTO and winch for sure!

Welcome to the board.

Re: 68 K20 needs ID

Sorry Yukon Jack that I haven't gotten back to you but I've been unable to reply or post pictures. The Reply part seems handled now but my pics are too large. Is there a trick to inserting them into the text? Need I have a web page for this function to work?

About My truck, I'm told the axles, hubs and differentials (409, 14bolt 410) are off a 2500 suburban. the transfer case is stamped with a K297 and the tranny has a S2101 on it. the PTO is a Dana RNG 7-11 and I found the name on the winch: Ramsey winch MFG Co. Tulsa OKLA but no #'s.
I will post the pics when I set up a file with the right sized pics.

Re: 68 K20 needs ID

If you can post the pics to a website, there is a "Insert Image" button that will let you post the pic from that website. Otherwise you need to resize the pics to a smaller size. I believe there is a post about this in the FAQ forum.

Any idea what year the 2500 Suburban is?
