Alternator Bracket
What are you guys using for a chrome alt. bracket?
I am having a hard time finding one that works. First I tried a Mr Gasket universal alt./gen. bracket. It did not work (not enough arc in it,it hit the top of the alt.) next I tried a spectre brand that mounts to the water pump bolt & a threaded boss in the manifold.(Edelbrock performer) but that was off by 1/2 of a bolt hole. It's a 350ci short water pump. attached is a pic of the stock one.I'm about ready to get some aluminum make my own & polish it up. |

Re: Alternator Bracket
Sandblast and powder coat your current one. I just walked in from the garage where I was sandblasting that exact bracket. I know it is not chrome but it will look good and have a durable finish. Just a thought.

Re: Alternator Bracket
my chrome one was a POS and it didn't fit any better than the stocker so i cut a 2 or 3 inch extension out of angle iron and got the grinder out to take off some of the altenator case and arm bracket.
maybe you can see in the pics.. it's a short water pump Last edited by matthufham; 10-11-2006 at 06:26 PM. |

Re: Alternator Bracket
Did the same thing Matt did, only I took the bracket off of my small block and made it bigger, and works like a charm. Wish I was a better welder though, saves some grinding. Thinking of getting it chromed.
