What motor and what year?? The owner's manual usually has the ratings listed - as well as some "Chilton" books. you can also check out - http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-engine-code-stampings.php (but you would need to know the engine suffix code on the front pad of the block - it is the last 2 or 3 letters like "TKF" for example)

Well a stock '71 402 BBC was: 8.5:1, Gross Horspower = 300@4800RPM, Net Horse = 240@4400RpM, Gross Torque = 400@3200RPM, and Net Torque = 340@3200RPM I would imagine that all the Big Blocks in '68-'72 would be very close to those. I think Longhorn Man said that there were no Big Blocks in '67 - not 100% sure though. Anyway don't forget that Chevrolet Under Rated thier motors alot - some of the 427cid Vette motors were rated @ 400Horse and 435 Horse - when they were pushing upwards of 475-500 Same with some of those LS6 454's (LS whatever's anyway)

Correct on the no big blocks in 67 for the C10-C30, BUT, the 396 was avaible for the El Camino....
Anyone know if the 67 C50 had big blocks? |
