Locked rear wheel
I have a 72 GMC parts truck with no engine, trans or driveshaft. I tried to move it the other day by towing it and the right rear wheel is skidding.
The truck has been parked for a year or two in my yard, but I did tow it how and had no problems. I imagine the brakes have seized. Any suggestions to a quick fix to make it towable across my yard?

Remove the wheel and hit the drum with a hammer. That should break the shoes free from the drum.

a BIG hammer. I'd spray some sort of penentrating lube in there as well.

When I first tried to move my truck out of the weeds after 12 years, one wheel was frozen. When we hooked up to the rear to drag it back out of the road, it broke free quickly.
Don't know if that might be possible for you

I drug it with my tractor about 75 feet before even noticing! It didn't break free.
Maybe I should try dragging it backwards?

if you are dragging it on a surface without alot of grip it probably won't break free, if you want to try breaking it free by dragging it you need some asphalt or concrete to drag it on.

I drug it across the lawn and then up the paved driveway without it breaking loose. On thing is without an engine, trans, hood and a few other parts this truck is getting lighter.
It's raining tonight, so maybe another night this week I will try dragging it backwards. Thanks for the ideas.

I hooked the tractor onto the truck this past weekend and pulled it backwards and the wheel turned. But when I hooked onto the front and moved the truck the right rear tire drug again??
Could I have a brake shoe come off? The truck is now parked for the winter.

If a brake shoe spring is off, you may drag it one way but perhaps not the other. Have seen that many times at boat ramps---kind of funny when the guy launches his boat but can't get the truck back out of the water!!hehehehe
