Trim/Moldings
I'm a new member, and also new to posting on these sites, so excuse me if I do it wrong. But I think I'm figuring it out.
Here are the pix from the ad of the truck I bought a couple weeks ago. It’s hard to tell but my '69 C20 Custom Camper or Camper Custom is missing almost all of its trim moldings and emblems. The folks I bought it from were planning to paint it and removed all of it. The lady I bought it from got the truck in the divorce and the guy got the trim... and canned it, out of spite, she says. At any rate, I need all of it and through searches have found some price differences on the repop stuff from different vendors (board vendors as well) and am wondering if there is a difference in quality? |

Re: Trim/Moldings
Yes there are a difference. Some repro stuff is good, some ain't worth the shippin to get it to your door. Most of the probs with trim pieces I have ran into is length, the end cuts not looking right or it just not looking right at all. Check with other people and find out where they get their repro stuff from and ask around at shows if any of the vendors are there.

Re: Trim/Moldings
We had to buy several pieces for our 68, some front and side and tailgate, but not a whole set, I beleive those came from LMC. Bought two new side pieces for our 70 from Classic Parts/Chevy Duty. All trim needs to be trial fitted and tweaked, you need to check it and send it back and try elsewhere if you are not happy.
The only real problem with trim that I have had is finding repro tailight trim for the 1970 (same as your 69) that fits. I have used Counterparts brand and one other and they do not fit worth a damn. I will go out on a limb here and say I don't think anyone reproduces any tailight trim for the 69-72 that fits. I am going to spend the extra money and get NOS GM trim for the lights, yes they still have them. Check out Mar-K.com for the side trim it is made in the US, the tailight trim is not made there, checked them already.
