Re: noob question about transmission

Its probably a Muncie non-syncro 1st gear unless it's been replaced. I had one in mine and hated it. It's for sale if anyone wants it! I replaced it with the Saginaw version and the truck is sooooooo much more fun to drive. There have been discussions about double-clutching here before, just do a search.

Re: noob question about transmission

The three on the tree in my 69 was synchronized. Pretty sure the 67 is too - but not sure.

Re: noob question about transmission

I have had several model vehicles with a three on the tree, never had a need to double clutch unless you just want too. Besides, a little "if you can't find them ,grind them" won't hurt anything either. Good luck!!!!!!!!

Re: noob question about transmission

Somewhere along about 68/69 , the saginaw was standard equippment.....before that, the sb equipped trucks got the saginaw(full syncro, & id by a 7 bolt side cover). The 6cyl trucks before this time were standard equipped with the old "2 pin " Muncie. This trans is id by a 4 bolt side cover.....& does go CRUNCH if you dont double clutch before shifting down to low! L
