Question Adapting 'sport mirrors' to our trucks?

From the pics I've seen, most of the '67-'72s have either a 'peeper' mounted on the top window rail or a small chrome round mirror or the original 'classic' mirrors.

Has anyone successfully adapted one of the 'new' sport mirrors??
(yeah, with the motor and blinker option, maybe heated, too!). I'm not talking about the electrical connections, but the actual attachment to the door.

The one's I've found are all for the '90 and later model pickups and they all seem to have the triangular attachment piece that goes where the vent window is. (No, I'm not converting to one piece, I <like> my vent windows. )

I don't want to spend the $$$ now and find out later that they won't fit.

Thanks,

Some Peugeot sedans have a nice heated power mirror that ends in the standard triangle, but has a square rubber accordian boot that fits in front of the wing vent pretty good. I have them on my '66 (see avatar). No turn arrow, tho. Also, have used dodge van mirrors, by cutting down the triangle, but overlaps the vent are 1/2" or so, still looks pretty good.
