Planning a trip. Need help on what to do
Just as it says fellow board members. I am planning a trip and need help on things to do. I am heading from Spokane to Phoenix Az area for the GOODGUYS show and then to have Thanksgiving with family in Flagstaff. I have never loaded up and hit the road for close to 2 weeks. I am also taking my Supercharged 71 Cheyenne super with me ion an enclosed trailer.
I will be leaving Spokane Washington on Tuesday morning, Nov. 14th. traveling to Salt Lake city. If there is any cruize nights here this night let me know. I will be leaving Salt Lake on Wed. Nov. 15th heading to Phoenix, AZ. I will be arriving in Scottsdale Wed. evening. On Thursday morning I will be doing a cruize put on by the host club for the Goodguys show. They are going around to local builders. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I will be at the goodguys show in Scottsdale. If there is any cruizes or shows or ge togethers please let me know. I will be staying in Scottsdale until Tuesday or Wed. and would love to par take with you guys in a cruize or show. I will then head up to Flagstaff for Thanksgiving and would love to find a car show in the area on this weekend. Also if there is anything cool and exciting to do during the days, just let me know. I appreciate any help from you all. Also if anyone has made that drive down I-15 through Salt Lake and down into Arizona let me know if there is anything I should expect like large mtn passes, weather ect. Also where is a safe place in Salt Lake to get a Hotel? I will be driving a buddies 07 Dodge cummings 1 ton pulling a 24 ft enclosed trailer with my truck. Is Scottsdale a safe place to leave the truck inside the trailer at night? I know this is still a couple of weeks but trying to get everything finalized. Sorry for being long winded. |

I live in Salt Lake. If your Cheyenne Super were next to my Cheyenne Super...we would have the only cruise-in in Salt Lake that evening. Of course you would have been the one that cruised in...thereby making it a cruise in...LOL.
Not much happening that I am aware of. I would love to see you supercharged Super. Cheers, Tim

Re: Planning a trip. Need help on what to do
I live in AZ and have made the trip backwards from how you are going, Salt lake has some twists, but nothing scarry. I live near Flag and would like a chance to see it in person. Snotsdale as it is referred to, is an upscale part of the Valley, so no real worries there. The show should be excellent, maybe I'll make the drive down to see it. I think there is a rod run over in Lauphlin NV, just next door to Flag, they call it a turkey run (I think, look up Lauphlin on Google and call the visitors center) they can give you details!!

Re: Planning a trip. Need help on what to do
Thanks guys.
timcos, Where is a safe place to get a hotel there in Salt Lake. Come on down and take a look at the truck that night. If the weather is good we will get it out and take it for a drive. 70rs/ss, I will look that up. I will be staying somewhere around Sedona for Thanksgiving. Lets get together and have a drink. |

Re: Planning a trip. Need help on what to do
Sedona is Beautiful!! There is a carshow at the Pavillions in Phoenix every Saturday night and there is another get together down there as well, the Valley guys will hopefully come on and tell you exactly where, the second one is kinda the anti-pavillions show cause the guys @ the pavillions are kinda snooty. I look forward to it, Sedona is a nice place, the drive from Flag to Sedona through Oak Creek Canyon is some of the nicest in AZ, just go down 87, but not with a trailer two lanes and pretty swervy curvy! Just drop me a PM, I have been bit by the supercharger bug and looking at yours makes it a must have!! I read an article in Carcraft a few months back about a small blower on a junkyard rebuilt 350 and it dropped over 400-500 hp with a set of Vortecs, so I WILL have one (in one fashion or the other{huffer, super charger, possibly turbo, but not as likely!!})

I would stay away from downtown (too expensive), west side (will get stolen) and airport (expensive and will get stolen). Midvale is a pretty safe community. However, no matter where you go for a hotel...I am sure people cruise the places looking for easy trailers to lift. I personally have not had a problem and Salt Lake is a generally safe area. The easter and souther you go is best in the Salt Lake Valley. I would love to see your rig...and I would drive mine to ti...I just got mine two months ago.

Re: Planning a trip. Need help on what to do
You may want to post something in the southwest region link as well to get the AZ guys to chime in. It was just yesterday and this already got kicked to the end of page two, so southwest meet and greet board might get some looks, I hope.

Re: Planning a trip. Need help on what to do
I will be heading through Idaho then through Montana to I-15 over by Butte. It shoots down through Montana back into Idaho and then into Utah. That is a lot of back and forth for 10 hours of driving..

I'll be flying into Vegas on Nov. 18th, and spending Thanksgiving with my dad in Tucson. We'll be all over AZ that week though. I'll keep a watch on this thread to see if I could possibly meet up with you guys somewhere along the way.

hey guys,
there is a nice car show every weekend at a place called the scottsdale pavillions if you ask at the show there will definatly be someone who can tell you how to ge there. i will tell you that it is at the NW corner (roughly) of hwy. 101 & indian bend rd. it is south of westworld around 10 mi or so (roughly). there are usually around 100-150 cars on any given sat. night. because of goodguys there will for sure be a whole lot more!! i am planning on being at goodguys myself & would love to meet up with any of you guys on sat. or even sun.! the weather hopefully will be great, usually is. expect around 75-85 for temps. ohh and maybe just a little sunshine (hhaahhaa) beskylerj, are you going to show your truck? i hope so! anyways it would be nice to meet a few more board members. i was hoping to have my truck in there, but i seem to be having a few problems with emmisions. i still am hoping to atleast drive it to the show. anyways have a great trip it sounds to be a real "hoot" have fun!!! rodstored-72 |

Re: Planning a trip. Need help on what to do
I'm not really sure. We're kind of playing it by ear. I don't imagine we'll be there more than a few days. So probably Tuesday the 21st at the latest. I found out about the GoodGuys show after I bought my tickets to Vegas. I was more than a little bummed about that!

Re: Planning a trip. Need help on what to do
I will look for you at the Good Guy's on Saturday. I also live 1/2 a mile from where the Good Guy's show is, if you need any tools or anything let me know.
I may be showing my 69 vette if I can finish it in time. You definitely need to go to the Pavillions Saturday night, lots of cars, trucks and motorcylles. Have a safe trip |

Re: Planning a trip. Need help on what to do
The show at the Pavillions is every Saturday and it is just a get together of car enthusiast. They also have them on the westside of town and in the east in Mesa. The car show in downtown Scottsdale is a good show also. You are coming down here at great time of year, lots of car shows great weather, you might as well stay til January and go to Barrett-Jackson if you want to see some awsome cars.

With the Goodguys show, parking at the Pavillions will be at a premium. I would get there early.
