79 2wd Blazer value
Just wondering how many 2wd's were built in 79. I am looking at one to possibly buy. It needs an engine which I have, but I am unsure at this time if I want to sink some money into it. Anyone have any info for me? How desirable is the 79 2wd?

Re: 79 2wd Blazer value
All 2wd Blazers hold a decent value these days. That's not saying they are rare, or highly sought after though. If your buying it to sell, it will depend on the condition of the body like anything else. If it's clean and all it needs is a motor then you might have a chance at making a buck. If it's rough and needs lots of work, better hope you get it cheap.
We really need pics for a more definitive answer.

Re: 79 2wd Blazer value
I just passed on a 78, that was dropped on a nice set of 15's perfect red paint, no dents or scratches.. and a 90 somthing efi 350 that ran perfect.. he was selling it for $4,000 if that tells ya anything.. only reason i passed is cause it had solid red interior, it was clean, but blinding

Re: 79 2wd Blazer value
I just picked up this 77 2wd Blazer for cheap!
Needs the trans replaced, but other than that it's in pretty decent condition. They lost intrest in it because it was 2wd. lol He was more interested in doing the SAS on his Nissan. Most people I've talked with have told me the 2wd ones are hard to find. I can't wait to get her running this winter! I am also curious as to the value of these 2wd Blazers.

Re: 79 2wd Blazer value
Here is one I just tried to sell on Ebay to fund another project and it only got up to around $4000.00. It's a rust free very clean 82 Jimmy (2 wheel drive.) I have alot more than that in it and decided to just keep it. It's hard to make money in this hobby. I GUESS IT'S JUST A LABOR OF LOVE HUH!

Re: 79 2wd Blazer value
I hear ya!
Not that I was trying to make some money, just trying to get down to one. See my sig - still have both of them? There is a guy localy that has been trying to sell one since I first got on craigslist. He started about $1500 and last time he ran it he was at $800. Says it runs and drives, minimal rust, NEW inner/outer fenders, hood, core support, doors, etc. Even shaved the door handle and had poppers installed and working. To the original post, that Blazer doesn't look so bad as far as the surface rust goes. Worst case you replace the hood. I would be more concerned with rockers, floors, quarters etc. But if you think its going to be a major money maker I would be careful. Quote:

Re: 79 2wd Blazer value
Not trying to make major money, just would like to be able to get a little more that I put in it if and when I need to sale. My son got rear ended the other day and his truck may be totaled. If so, he is going to need something to drive. I kind of like the looks of the blazer and may keep it myself or it may just be a temporary thing. I am not interested in doing a lot of rust repair. If the rockers and floor are solid, I am thinking it may be the ticket. Going to try to go look at it this weekend.......Thanks for the comments....David

David, I saw that truck too. Looks like it was a good deal. Be careful, though. Once you get a Blazer, you get hooked!
